Chairman’s Update

In Case you missed it…election recap

In the midst of record-level voter turnout in Texas, TREPAC- and RPAC-supported candidates had great success on Election Day: 89% of REALTOR®-supported candidates—from both political parties—won their state or federal races!

  • 35 of 37 Congressional seats (pending a recount in CD 23)
  • 13 of 15 Texas Senate races
  • 134 or 144 Texas House races (pending recounts in HD 108 and 132)

Election Day recap
Turnout across the state was historically high for this mid-term election. More than 8.3 million Texans cast ballots. By comparison, in the last mid-term election (2014), just over 4.6 million Texans voted.

  • Statewide: Republicans still hold every statewide office and have majorities in both legislative chambers at the state and federal levels. Democrats flipped a significant number of seats: two Congressional districts, two Texas Senate districts, and 12 Texas House seats.
  • U.S. Senate: Even though he lost his bid to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, Congressman Beto O’Rourke received well over 4 million votes—the most ever for a Democrat in Texas (Hillary Clinton got about 3.88 million in 2016).
  • U.S. Congress: Texas’ 36-member congressional delegation will have 23 Republicans and 13 Democrats. Texas Democrats picked up two seats, both in urban areas. In Houston, political newcomer and attorney Lizzie Fletcher defeated 9-term incumbent Republican John Culberson in Houston’s CD 7, and ex-NFL player and attorney Colin Allred defeated 11-term Republican incumbent Pete Sessions in Dallas-based CD 32.

What this means for Texas real estate
Texas REALTORS® don’t support candidates based on their political party—we’re the REALTOR® Party—so no matter the results of Election Day, REALTORS® win! As our volunteer leaders draft our public policy priorities, we know our platform will remain strong because of you.

Our membership and the power of TREPAC keep Texas REALTORS® at the table, no matter who is in office.

Spread the Word and Give Thanks

This Thanksgiving we have much to be thankful for. Help spread the word this holiday season and give thanks to your TREPAC Family!

Need your input on TAR’s legislative agenda

By investing in TREPAC, you have helped elect the men and women who will shape the regulatory environment for the next two years. Once the Legislature convenes January 8, 2019 we will need to deliver a clear unified message to our elected officials on what Texas REALTORS® policy initiatives will be.

If you haven’t already done so, please visit by November 23 to view and comment on TAR’s proposed public policy positions.

Your input ensures our legislative priorities are responsive to issues facing Texas real estate.

Do your Dues

It’s dues billing time and you know what that means…it’s time to do your dues. Part of building a TREPAC culture is ensuring all Texas REALTORS® know that when it’s dues billing time, it’s TREPAC time.

REALTOR® Relief Run in Boston

Despite the cold and rain, Team Texas showed up in force to the REALTOR® Relief Run in Boston. Proceeds from the run benefited the REALTORS® Relief Foundation.

The REALTORS® Relief Foundation helps families who have been affected by major disasters. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the Foundation was able to provide some relief to Texas REALTORS® and it was important for us to give back.

The REALTORS® Relief Foundation welcomes contributions—not only in times of disaster, but at any time throughout the year—and 100% of all funds collected go to disaster relief causes.

If you’d like to donate today, please click here.

Thank you Team Texas!

Realtors to Watch

The Texas Associaiton of REALTORS® Young Professionls Networkd (NPN) named five REALTORS® to Wach award recipients earlier this year.

Among them were two TREPAC Trustees, Cameron Willmann (Region 6) and Ben Rodriguez (Region 9).

Congratulations to Cameron, Ben, Vanessa Dirks, Julie Reupke, and Kathy Wade!

These Texas REALTORS® under the age of 40 demonstrate excellence in leadership and community involvement and are making their mark in the real estate industry!
